At the age of ten, Jiacheng Li – together with fifty other piano kids from around the world – performed on stage with the superstar pianist Lang Lang at the O2 World Stadium in Berlin, Germany. Wondrously inspired by that experience, Jiacheng made a decision to create music that can change people’s lives. Since then, he has earned several prizes in piano, including Silver Prize at the 2016 Brahms International Piano Competition (Asia District), and First Prize at the 2017 China Youth Music Competition (Beijing) “Hummingbird Music Award.”
Jiacheng was fortunate to have collaborated with numerous prestigious musicians over the years. In 2015, he performed as guest accompanist with the Girls’ Choir at China Conservatory of Music Affiliated High School, under the visiting conductor Robyn Reeves Lana, the Artistic Director of Cincinnati Youth Choir. That same year, he performed Darius Milhaud’s Brasileira with pianist Jeannie Yu. In 2019, he received a scholarship to participate in the the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival in Burlington, VT. In 2022, Jiacheng was a scholarship recipient at the Berkshire at High Peaks Festival in Sheffield, MA.
Prior to coming to the United States, Jiacheng studied piano privately with Prof. Huaiyu Feng from the China Conservatory of Music. In 2018, Jiacheng came to the U.S. to study under Prof. Dmitri Shteinberg at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) High School. During his time at UNCSA, Jiacheng gave many solo performances in the concert halls on campus and has been featured in the piano department’s outreach concerts. Upon his graduation in 2020, Jiacheng was selected as the class of 2020 High School Graduation Speaker for the UNCSA School of Music.
From 2020 to 2024, Jiacheng studied with Prof. Alexander Shtarkman at The Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where he was awarded the Jill E. McGovern and Steven Muller Scholarship. Currently, Jiacheng Li is pursuing his Master of Music degree in piano with Ann Schein at Peabody.
