After making his American Debut in 2023, Jiacheng Li was recognized by The Baltimore Sun as follows: “Notes cascaded from the pianist Jiacheng Li’s fingers like individual drops of water. Then the drops formed a river that rushed ahead, gaining momentum without somehow sacrificing transparency. Then, in one final headlong downward dash, the stream became a waterfall.”
At age fifteen, Jiacheng won the First Prize in the China Youth Music Competition (Beijing) Hummingbird Music Awards. That year, China’s Sina News interviewed Jiacheng in an exclusive article and named him “a rising young pianist”. He came to the United States in 2018 to study at University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) High School. Upon his graduation, Jiacheng was selected to be the Commencement Speaker for the UNCSA School of Music.
Jiacheng has previously studied with Prof. Huaiyu Feng from the China Conservatory of Music, with Prof. Dmitri Shteinberg at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and with Prof. Alexander Shtarkman at The Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where he was the recipient of Jill E. McGovern and Steven Muller Scholarship. Currently, Jiacheng is pursuing his Master of Music degree with Prof. Ann Schein at Peabody.
When he was ten, Jiacheng was chosen by Lang Lang to perform with the superstar pianist at the O2 World Stadium in Berlin, Germany. That was the life-changing moment that inspired him to become a pianist. Since then, Jiacheng has performed at many music festivals, including the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival (2019) and the Berkshire at High Peaks Festival (2022). In 2025, he would be attending the prestigious Gijón International Piano Festival in Gijón, Spain.
